I mainly chose histories about the change of the Self-Defense Force in itself, problems and activities. There are so many activities so I chose that I think it is interesting.

In 1950, the Korean War broke out,GHQ ordered Japanese government to make National Police Reserve to defend oneself. At the same time,part of navy became the Marine Guard via the Coast Guard and became garrison afterward.

In 1951, National Police Reserve introduced the plain for communication, this is beginning of the Air Self-Defense Force.

In 1952, National Security Board and National Security Force was established.

In 1954, Japanese government subscribed to MDA treaty. At the same time, Ministry of Defence and Self-Defence Forces were established. Self-Defence Forces Law was tried.

In 1959, Isewan typhoon rose. Japan was generally damaged by that and Self-Defence Forces were dispatched, then headquarters for disaster control was established in Chubu district.

In 1962, in Eniwa town, The case that dairy farmer near the training ground cuts a communication line happened. A lot of Taiwanese bananas were rumored to have cholera virus and burned by Self-Defense Force.

In 1965, The icebreaker Fuji first left port to South Pole to investigate.

In 1968, At February 21, Ebino Earthquake and at May 16, Tokachi offing Earthquake happened then many members were dispatched.

In 1971, To prevent the frost by the cold weather, chemical unit was dispatched with smoking equipment.

In 1972, In Okinawa, a governor of prefecture had opposed deployment of Self-Defense Force, but called a disaster relief with typhoon.

In 1975, In Shimane, torrential rain occurred, then prefecture requested assistance (water supply, search of the missing) to Self-Defense Force. This assistance lasted for about 1 week.

In 1982, In Nagasaki, Self-Defence Forces were dispatched with heavy rain disaster.

In 1983, Miyake island erupted. Self-Defence Forces were dispatched during 2 weeks.

In 1991, The Maritime Self-Defense Force were dispatched to the Persian Gulf to remove mines. The Ground Self-Defense Forces were dispatched for Unzen Mt.Fugen eruption disaster.

In 1995, When the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake happened, Self-Defense Force were dispatched. The sarin gas attack on Tokyo subway happened, so chemical capable unit was dispatched.

In 1999, Suspected ships appeared in the Noto Peninsula offing then the Maritime Self-Defense Force's helicopter chased and kept watch those.

In 2001, The Maritime Self-Defense Force were dispatched to the Indian Ocean to help U.S. forces

In 2002, Suspected North Korean Spy Ship was found in the Sea of Japan then 15 Japanese patrol boats and aircraft were dispatched to that.

In 2003, Self-Defense Forces were dispatched to Iraq to support the national rebuilding. They were dispatched to Iran to assist when an earthquake took place in that.

In 2004, Chinese submarine appeared in the sea around Ishigaki island then the Maritime Self-Defense Forces were dispatched to that.

In 2008, Aegis Ship collided with fishing boat.

In 2009, The Maritime Self-Defense Force were dispatched to the coast of Somalia to cope with piracy.

In 2011, The Great East Japan Earthquake happened, so Self-Defense Force were dispatched to save life.
